Lenore Tawney’s handmade garments will be the subject of a conversation on clothing as an extension of artistic practice facilitated by friends of light and the Lenore G. Tawney Foundation during New York Textile Month. The event will take place on Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 7 to 9 pm at The Townhouse, 354 West 11th Street, New York, NY 10014.
Tawney created dozens of one-of-a-kind garments for her own use from fabrics collected during her travels. Her sources of inspiration and unique approach to construction will be explored. Long before terms such as “slow fashion” and “zero waste” were in use, Lenore Tawney made them part of her practice.
This event is free but registration is required.
